Responding to community needs
Providing healthy food
Food insecurity for children can have profound and lasting effects on their health and development, hindering their ability to thrive both academically and socially. Access to adequate nutrition is crucial for ensuring children can grow and reach their full potential.
How can you get involved?
As our ambition to support more children across the UK grows, so does our Stronger Starts programme. There are many ways you can get involved in helping us ensure children and young people thrive, whether you want to apply for a grant yourself, or pick up a blue token and vote in store.

Partners in action
We’re partnered with the charity Groundwork. Together we’re on a mission to help 5 million children thrive by 2025. Through Stronger Starts, we fund healthy food and fitness activities to improve physical health and mental wellbeing - from breakfast clubs to playground equipment, football kits to gardening classes.

Community Champions
A Community Champion is one of the links between the store and the community it serves. They are a store colleague who cares passionately about their community and the role that Tesco can play in supporting it.
With expert knowledge of programmes such as our Food Collections and Community Grants scheme, Community Champions help people to understand how to benefit from them. They assist with filling in grant application forms, or give contact information about our charity partners and share other useful tools.
